Childhood blindness
Childhood blindness is one of the main priorities in VISION 2020 (joint program of WHO and IAPB):
• causes of blindness in children differ from those in adults and require different strategies;
• delay or absence in treatment during the early stages may lead to conditions which are not treatable in adults, such as amblyopia;
• treatment for children requires specialized training, knowledge, skills, and equipment;
